When growing up on Badu, my brothers and good friends and myself, always caught yabbies from our swamps and creeks. The yabby is caught by a line or string that is tied around meat bait. We would drop the bait in the water for a couple of minutes then pull the bait back up with the yabbies biting the meats. We would catch yabbies with one hand and then boil in a can or cook over the coals.
