In this new lino print of mine called "Kusiel ar bangadhal" I tell the story of the small red jellyfish the "Kusi" and the box jellyfish and the bluebottle jellyfish we call these two "bangadhal" that are found in the Torres Strait waters

The small red jellyfishs we call "Kusi" gets pushed to the back of the island by the northwestly during the monsoon season

The bluebottle jellyfish usually found along along the beach front of our village when the southeastly winds push them on to the shoreline

The box jellyfish is also found in the Torres Strait waters but is very rare and also it's very rare that hear of someone getting stunged by one. I got stunged by one single string of the box jellyfish once back when I worked on a crayfishing boat while I was trying to retrieve one of the boats stabilisers and one of the box jellyfish string was wrapped around it and I touched it by mistake luckily it was only one string so it wasn't too painful

Soon as I got stung I urinated on the affected area and the pain ceased. This knowledge of peeing on a jellyfish sting was told to us by our elders.
