Biru Birun -Danthyayk – (Rainbow Bee Eater - shows us) is a migratory bird which migrates form PNG to mainland Australia through the Torres Strait islands.

This is one of many occurrences, mother nature’s way of telling us islanders that there are changes happening in the sea, the Biru-biru’s migration shows us, it’s a sign from above the sea that’s shows what is happening at this exact moment below the sea in the straits.

My image of the Biru-biru encompasses within its body the migration which points-out to us the turtle mating season, followed by turtle eggs and hatchlings to come on the orison in our coastal waters
