This print brings together all of the elements that make up the Torres Strait, and our connection with all the good things - the flora and fauna that make it such a wonderful and abundant place.

Using the traditional mask - upon which we carve and store many important images, I have shown Squid, Fish, Leaves and Seeds, Dugong - and the Winds and Currents.

These are the things that make us who we are - in which our culture and traditions are based and through which the stories are told from generation to generation.. These things are like our cultural keel. The framework of all we are is built on these.

So it is much more than a mask - it is a mask which shows where we sit in connection to these Torres Strait things. This print, like many of my prints will be used to teach my children and their children of things that matter to me, and help me be who I am. A Torres Strait man.
