The mango season on Badu Island in the Torres Strait in October November, my childhood I grow up in an area called Padaumudth. I as a boy would collect mangoes from our 16 huge trees that my mother Rita NONA and father Tauwie Phillip NONA planted before I was born.
Some Mangos were to feed our pig and most were for school lunches and days out fishing with mum. As I grow up, I spent many mango seasons getting mangos before the flying fox would come and when they came, I would chase the flying fox fly away from the mangos, in the night with my touch light. This image of a flying fox stealing a mango captures that moment.
